- The visa counterfoil is used for: temporary residents from visa required countries, all immigrants, travel document for permanent residents A31(3), single journey document for resettlement to Canada R151, single journey travel document ministerial instructions A15(4), temporary resident permits from visa required countries. Since April 30 2005, the visa counterfoils no longer display the bar code which was printed and located over the machine readable zone.
